After President Hinckley died, a friend told us about this challenge going around the Internet to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days. My family decided to take on the challenge. In order to accomplish this feat, you must read a little over 5 pages a day. No easy task for any single person, let alone a family of 6.
We embarked on this challenge and were doing pretty well. Then we hit a rough patch and didn't read for two weeks. That put us a whopping 80 pages behind. It is very difficult to catch up when you are that far behind. You have to read your 5+ pages a day PLUS even more pages if you want to have any hope of catching up.
To catch up, we started listening to the tapes while following along in our scriptures. Then over spring break, we made a commitment to cut into that deficit. By the end of spring break, we were only 13 pages behind.
I am proud to say that as of today, we are 3 pages AHEAD. We are on track to complete the challenge by May 10th.
It has been such a blessing for our family to go through this process. It is true when they say that "there is great power in this book." I have witnessed this first hand.
The graph below shows just how far behind we were and what we had to do to catch up. I thank Heavenly Father every day for my kids. What great examples they are to me. I learn so much from them everyday.

That's so great! I love the chart--it's always good to see your progress. :) I am so excited you joined the blogging world. It will be great to hear what is going on with your family...like seeing a moose in your neighbors front yard. It reminds me of Tony getting too close to the baby moose at Aspen Grove and all the younger cousins following him. Good times.
Maria!
Welcome to the blogging world. Your first three posts are great. I love the picture of Bullwinkle (isn't that the name of the moose from the old cartoon) walking through your backyard.
And I must say that I am impressed with your chart tracking your progress in reading the Book of Mormon.
We look forward to future posts.
Oh, and I can't believe the amount of snow that was still on the ground "two weeks ago." It looks like global warming just skipped right past Rexburg.

Alright, so I am finally leaving you a comment. I have been on a break from the computer for a few days because I had to get some stuff done around the house. I do check the blogs but than have to run off and entertain the kiddos. My house is still a mess and always will be:) I'm just answering your question about how things get done around the house since you have entered the blogging world? The secret is...things just don't get done:)shh...don't tell anyone or they'll never join this world were in. hehe.
You and your family are impressive with the reading. Way to Go!
"It's Great to be a Nate." motto is awesome. It reminds me of the story Aaron told us how your mom made up some "Olsen Motto" that she made all the kids memorize. I don't remember the motto and she must have stopped doing it before Jon got old enough to remember since he has no recollection of it. But we sure did get a laugh when Aaron told us. I do love your motto. Short, sweet and true:)
